I'm just gonna put this out there. You can take, or you can throw it back. But Matthew Good sucks, and there will be mad girls you can awkwardly flirt with at the party. You should come hang out.

I would assume someone with the name good has to be good, otherwise thats false advertising.

Can't get into the guy myself. I don't know why, but every time I hear him sing I have an overwhelming urge to slap him.

Re: WINTER FORMAL 2011
Dear everyone,
I MC'd the dance tonight (and am currently doing so) and I said something I immediately regretted - "don't get raped tonight" - this simple miswording changes the blame and it's society that accepts this wording as such. The proper phrasing would be "don't rape tonight" and I realize that I was totally oblivious to this. As someone who identifies with the left wing and liberal in most cases, I feel really guilty that this oversight in wording totally changed the meaning. My intent was honestly to prevent drunk people from hurting other drunk people. But what I said explained it in the wrong way. Nobody should "prevent" evil behaviour towards them in the same way that nobody needs to prevent other people mugging them or bullying them. The blame should be 100% on the perpetrator of the crime.
I know this is not an excuse but I have consumed 4x 350 ml 7% beverages and the majority of a mickey of lemon liquer. This made me revert to my gut instincts and it's just so sad that these include diction that puts the blame on victims.
I feel really bad about this and I was informed after my speech by Serina. I think this is poor behaviour of an MC and even though I amended this in a speech a few songs later, I am still guilty of what I did. I invite anyone on this board or that witnessed the speech to discuss it with me. I recognize my error but it's very difficult to get "out of" society and change my behaviour to what I know is right instead of what society expects of me.
The dance was and is fun and I know this will seem like a giant "oof" statement after the fact - not in the intent - but how it's worded and how I am under the influence as I write it. But I stand by it. Thank you.

This may be why I just can't get into him. I dunno. I DON'T KNOW.
Bummed I had to miss this, but I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and so many people I know have the flu right now. With finals coming up, I just don't have time to get horribly sick.
Tyler, good on ya for realizing that was an inappropriate thing to say. It takes a bigger man to admit he was wrong, and to publicly say that. No discussion is needed, I think you nailed why you shouldn't have said it in your post.

Re: WINTER FORMAL 2011
Tyler, it isn't a newsflash that you'd say something goofy while drunk. It was just a mis-phrasing of a well intentioned message, don't beat yourself up.

Re: WINTER FORMAL 2011
Well I certainly had fun. Got drunk as fuck. I also learned that riding a bike in a suit/balaclava is a badass look.

I wish I'd been there to hear this, because I would have had way too much fun giving you a hard time, knowing that you didn't mean it the way you said it. You are preeeetty funny when you're smashed.

True dat. But you know this and are going to continue to make it better, which is all I would ask of you, personally.tylerp wrote:I recognize my error but it's very difficult to get "out of" society and change my behaviour to what I know is right instead of what society expects of me.
Anyway, there needs to be a '11/'12 Winter Formal Part II since there were so many who had to miss it.

Re: WINTER FORMAL 2011
wow, I had no idea I was able to write so coherently while drunk. I was doing the zoning out / staring into the distance / falling over thing directly after writing that.
oh yeah, the dance itself was crazy fun as always. these dances are some of the best events of the year. they're just totally fun - everyone gets to dress up, there's awesome music, singing along, punch, good people, good times. I can't wait for the next dance.

I regret inadvertently hijacking this thread, but not my choice. save maybe for the fact that I missed what was sure to be plenty of classic drunk tyler moments (okay, and probably plenty else too...).
that post was so clear because it was posted from tylerp, as opposed to user drunk tyler. that's my speculative explaination. tyler clearly has the expert opinion of a veteran vlv poster.
I got ahold of everyone I know and no one would come with me. I ended up standing outside the vogue holding a sign saying I had two front row tickets and no date. after about 45 minutes a nice decent looking woman who's probably a good 15-20 years older than me approached me and convinced me to let her come with me. oh yeah, and i got her number and she txted me.
I highly support a part II to this event. I would definitely attend. these are definitely just tons of awesome posi vibes, fun, and friends at these things.

Okay, I take back everything I said about Matthew Good. That story alone is worth the ticket price.destroy wrote:I regret inadvertently hijacking this thread, but not my choice. save maybe for the fact that I missed what was sure to be plenty of classic drunk tyler moments (okay, and probably plenty else too...).
