VIHC.net VAN ISLE HARDCORE BOARD

Hey guys, I just moved here from Australia. Could someone give me the rundown on venues and stuff in Victoria? From what I've gathered, it's the main place to go for Hardcore/Punk/Metal shows. Also, if anyone knows any local bands to check out, that'd be awesome.

I'm 18, which weird because I'm legally an adult in Australia but now I'm a minor again. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. My favorite band is LIFERUINER but I listen to bands like Your Demise, 50 Lions, The Acacia Strain - just about anything.

To clarify, you're in Vancouver but interested in bands/shows in Victoria as well?

Anyway, there are a bunch of bands to check out under "links" on the vihc main page, and I'm sure you can find many more on the board just by browsing through old threads.

Shows are also listed on the main page, and there are usually threads; if you ever need an address for a venue or whatever, don't be shy, just ask and someone should pm you.

The Vic hc scene is rad, but Vancouver's a bigger place so it has a bit more going on.

Thanks, guys. The only stuff I could find online was in relation to Victoria, so I just presumed that was the active area. I'll check out those links you sent me!

What up dude! Definitely welcome to come over for a show any time. Venues in this town are a wee scarce at the moment, but there are a couple of houses that do stuff, specifically The Legendary Castle and the house I live at The Red Door. We don't post the addresses (for obvious reasons) but most people know them and I'm always down to PM you where we are. Legendary Castle focus's on mainly straight hardcore, and we do mainly grind/crust at the Red Door, but that's really generalities and you'll find that both houses are open to a lot of different things.

If you're into metalcore (which I assume you are if your favorite bands are Liferuiner/Acacia Strain/etc.) check out CB productions here on the island. Run by Cam Birchhill, super solid dude and promoter. Seriously, can't back that guy enough. He's doing a show this Saturday, in fact, with some island metalcore bands.

Feel free to check out the bands on the front page. All of them are either island bands or super close to us (Damages, for example, is from Vancouver but we love them with a passing strange obsession).

Final note: if we ever meet, please don't be offended if I ragingly mock Liferuiner. Feel free to make fun of me for wearing patch vests and basically living like it's 1994 at all times. Mainly, I'm just an old, bitter, opinionated asshole. Please don't take it personally.

Vancouver is generally way more active than Victoria as far as shows of most kinds, I don't know much about the hardcore scene over there but I'm sure others on here could point you in the right direction.
