Get hyped. I remember hearing about this about five years ago, but I thought it got cancelled. I cannot wait.

I will maybe check this out. The entire little drama that unfolded during that time is a LOT of hype. Great music, but absolutely boring hearing about VARG OMG for the fiftieth time.

Will be looking out for this love the story and like Harmony Korine. I really liked Gummo. It makes me really depressed and uneasy.

I'm kind of meh on Harmony Koreine. Kids fucking sucked, but I haven't had a chance to see Gummo yet, and I've heard good things. This, however, looks interesting. Might be that documentaries are where she's really strong.

Kids was awesome when my life consisted of weed and skateboards, but once I got a chance to actually watch it. Fuck what a piece of crap.
PS Harmony Korine is a dude and very strange one at that

Kids was hella super duper when my life consisted of weed and skateboards, but once I got a chance to actually watch it. Fuck what a piece of crap.

HAHAHA shit, I always just assumed a chick cuz of the name. My bad.

But seriously, that movie blooooows. What was it about? NOTHING. That movie had no point. It was just had this vague "Shit sucks, AIDS is bad, whoops everyone died" message that honestly makes no sense in the end of things. It seriously just feels like a film school kid trying to be edgy. I've never seen Harmony Korine in real life, but I can already tell you that he owns a LOT of black turtlenecks, smokes clove cigarettes, and says shit like 'Well of course you don't understand it." It's the tired old tale of "if you're not actually a good artist, simply make shit confusing and nonsensical, and then blame the audience for not being smart enough to get it." Shit pisses me off.

You know, people could say the same thing about hardcore or metal.
I don't think Harmony Korine really thinks that way, though. I remember hearing an interview with him where he explicitly stated that none of his movies/art/whatever had any hidden meanings or pretentiousness to it. It was just imagery that invoked power, and things that spoke to him. I think the people who fall under that poser sort of "confusing and nonsensical" art, aren't really lauded at all, and make no profound effect in the long run. If it had no clout it wouldn't be talked about at all. So really he's doing a very, very good job with his art because it's invoked that kind of reaction with you with me coming to his defense.
I could really spiral off into a whole debate about what constitutes art and what doesn't. The concept of what makes a "good" artist is not necessarily a one way street. I'd personally rather see something that technically made zero sense over a painting that looks exactly like a photograph.

so far i enjoyed Korine movies.

He didn't direct Kids which is one everyone is talking about as an example it seems. He just wrote the screen play.

IF YOU DID ENJOY KIDS HOWEVER watch the movie Ken Park. (you will have to download it as there is no distributor for it) same director (Larry Clark) as Kids and based on a script done by Korine.

I have yet to see Gummo but it is sitting in the other room... we should watch it tyler.

Julien Donkey Boy was fucked. I enjoyed it immensely however. Which is probably why i own it

We also have Mister Lonely. Which kind of ruled.

Kids is awesome, I love showing it to people who don't know what they're getting themselves into and watching them squirm. Gummo is one of my favorite movies of all time, I've seen it more times than I can count. Both movies are supremely fucked up but in different ways. Julien Donkey-Boy was a bit too much for me to sit through the entire way, I should maybe give it another chance sometime though. I might see this but as others have stated there's plenty of information already out there on this subject.

Can you walk me through an explanation of why that movie sucked? It better be more than a 1-2 sentence witticism about a singular part of the movie, if you follow ..

Hahaha. Sorry.

Okay, basically that movie was about nothing. The dialog was garbage, the actors were okay at best, the story had no point beyond being oppressively depressing, half the scenes could have been cut and the movie would not have changed in the slightest (for me specifically, it was scenes like when the two male protagonists end up at one of their friends houses, and they all have a conversation about fucking...and then they leave. The only thing that's established is that none of them care about getting AIDS/understand how one gets it, which had pretty much already been established at the beginning of the movie in a much more interesting manner. Also, as hilarious as it was, the "I got no legs" part of the movie was completely unnecessary. There were a bunch more, but it's been quite a few years since I've seen the movie), there is no actual character development, simply the ghost of a possibility of one. I could go on. It was basically just a movie about a couple of underage dudes fucking underage girls, OH and one of them has AIDS which he inadvertently passes on to his friend. At best it' was a heavy handed parable about AIDS that provided no depth or empathy to the concept, at worst it was simply there for shock value and exploited an epidemic to that end. Shitty...fucking...movie.
