Start fucking bands.

my friend and i are starting a powerviolence project and we're just using programmed drums... i'm cautiously optimistic. hopefully it won't suck.

I think the biggest problem is too many bands with the same few people... its a problem in a lot of the scenes here in vic, not just hardcore.

And not just in Vic, a lot of scenes have this happen, Van included. It'd be cool if people tried to start bands with new people occasionally.

Someday I would like to start a casual band with a couple peeps from Van and Vic together. I think it'd be fun to have an excuse to visit Vic more often. Not that that helps any local scene much.

If people just focused on one project, instead of say, 3 or 4, I think the quality of that one would be better because (In theory) you're only writing for one band as opposed to more so you can use all your best ideas for one band, and also self edit better.

I have experienced this, but in general I disagree because (for me) I tend to play in multiple bands that sound different so it's clear which ideas are right for which band.

gibas and I have this awesome idea and our life troubles have been in finding a drummer who is actually interested in the music we like and doesn't suck and isn't already in 2+ bands

i got a pal from nanaimo who just moved down. hes a metal drummer, but hes been more stoked on hardcore stuff ive been showing him lately, he was at Run with the Hunted and has been digging that style.
