I have never really liked R.E.M., just like I never liked 54-40 or Soundgarden. I do not dispute that they were a great band worthy of hall-of-fame success, but they just never did it for me.

So basically, yeah. Being boring helps you get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

the only thing i can ever think of REM is whenever i'm at a used music shop, i'm amazed at the sheer number of copies of monster, regardless of format.

all the "punk goes.." comps feature bands that are the farthest thing from actual punk.
i think the closest they ever got was one of the versions of "punk goes acoustic" that featured tguk, jimmy eat world, thrice, and brand new, and even then those bands are still a far strech from punk.
