Bands you feel like you should like but can't get into

Anyone else have bands that you see the good in, respect, etc. but even though they seem like they should be your cup of tea you just can't get into them? I have a few bands like this, but Superchunk is the one I'm thinking of right now. I see that they're a cool band, they're stylistically like other bands I enjoy, but they do nothing for me when I listen to them. It puzzles me. I want to like them, but I don't. Granted they have a couple songs I like, but overall I feel like I should like them more than I do.
Another of these bands is Pavement. Cannot get into that band.

I just obtained a lot of music that I've never heard before that I _should_ like, so I'll probably be contributing to this thread a lot.

Agree on these, though, I haven't given Joy Division a fair chance. I really liked Outbreak live, but not the kind of hardcore I like to listen to recorded.

Killing the Dream - I am honestly baffled by the love this band seems to get. I get that they're doing something, and that they're doing it well, but for the life of me I can't figure out what that is.
Trapped Under Ice - Again, don't get it.
Crass - Sounds like a hippie drum circle. This is ironic since a lot of my favorite bands were heavily heavily influenced by these guys.
Oi Polloi - Always reminds me of those guys who wear kilts to class in high school. Only actually Scottish. And crusty.
The Cramps - Actually, just make that psychobilly as a whole.

How to Enjoy Joy Division:
1. Invite girl over
2. Buy liquor
3. Wait for hours upon hours for said girl to come over. Realize that she never will. Open liquor. Pour drink after drink as the innumerable weight of the universe slowly unfolds upon you. Weep uncontrollably. Stare with dead eyes into the bathroom mirror while the lights are off. Recognize the inherent futility of existence. Embrace death.
4. Dance to "Love Will Tear Us Apart"

In all fairness I used to like Crass too at one point in time but I'd say that description is about as off the mark as you could get... I've definitely never encountered a hippie drum circle that sounds like this:

The first four seconds of Berketext Bribe are a drum circle. FIGHT ME.
That particular song does not sound like a hippie drum circle, I will give you that. It sounds like an art school jam session.

There are so many bands that fit that though...

Joy Division are easily one of my favorite bands, but I understand why not everyone would like them.
I also think there's a lot of people in the world who don't like Joy Division but say they do.

Another band I love, but while I could listen to them play their instruments for days, even I find the vocals can get bothersome after a while.

How do Champion and Have Heart relate to antiquated punk rock...?

Because Reece is twelve.
I adore Joy Division, but I also get why people wouldn't. It took me a long, long time to get into that band. I remember seeing the video for "Love Will Tear Us Apart" when I was sixteen and just thinking "Man, that dude sings like he's choking on a dick." I got over it.

Fishbone. Live I easily see them as one of the best bands to see, but their records all sound so terrible and bland. I duhnna get it.

NoMeansNo's been my favorite band since I was 13, but I can definitely see why they wouldn't be some people's cup of tea.
Despite my best efforts I've never quite been able to get into the Melvins, which is heresy in some circles. I like a lot of their riffs and some of their individual songs but I've just never been able to get through an entire album.
