Bridge Nine Redemption?
I don't think Bridge Nine has released anything I REALLY like/love since the last Have Heart LP. Over the past couple years, I've totally stopped even checking out new releases from them, and when I do, I am consistently disappointed (new Ruiner, anyone?). I was missing the Bridge Nine of the not-so distant future, with bands like Carry On, Champion, No Warning, Panic, Betrayed, and Have Heart, who all, in my opinion, put out some of the best records of the past decade.
However! Now they seem to be straying from the pile of rubbish they've been pushing for the past year or two, having recently signed Mother of Mercy and Foundation. These are two bands I think are pretty good, and definitely way better than anything else on the label's current roster.
What do you think? Has Bridge Nine sucked balls these past couple years? Are they now redeeming themselves by signing real hardcore bands again?
I'm curious of others' opinions on this VERY important topic.

Re: Bridge Nine Redemption?
I fully back what you are saying. although i really dug the new ruiner and soul control stuff. b9 was the best hardcore label during the early 2000's and i was bummed to see them straying away from the types of bands they used to put out. as kram once told me "they aren't the label that puts out no warning records anymore", but maybe they are heading back toward their roots(as a hardcore label)
new found glory and polar bear club are not hardcore bands.

Re: Bridge Nine Redemption?
yeah i can agree
but i think they are now going to be trying to do the mix
Still sign bands like polar bear club
plus get new bands like mother of mercy and foundation on board.
that new ruiner kind of grew on me a little bit.... no where near as good as the last album but still
but lets see last few years
new crime in stereo - i don't really know only gave it one or two listens
strike anywhere - iron front . i enjoyed it to a degree but they aren't really a band i follow that much
Defeater 2x7" - they to me sounded like a have heart rehash which at the time i enjoyed. haven't really listened to it since however
Ruiner - hell is empty. Some sections of this album really grew on me.
Polar Bear Club - Chasing Hamburg. Not going to lie i really enjoy this album. Yet it is not something i see being "b9"
Soul Control - Cycles. I didn't buy this as i had no money. 4 of the songs were already from that 7" series they did.
Dead Swans. - still haven't listened to this
Death Before Dishonor - didn't even know there was new DBD. oh well no big loss.
SOME THINGS i also liked since that Have Heart album that came out at like the same time. Cruel Hand LP and Ceremony LP.

Re: Bridge Nine Redemption?
defeater really bore me as well, dead swans are ok but nothing amazing. I dont think ruiner will ever write anything better than the what could possibly go right ep, that thing is nearly perfect
some of my top picks from b9's earlier discography:
champion - promises kept
no warning - ill blood
blue monday - rewritten
triple threat - into the darkness
stand & fight - together we win
panic - strength in solitude
the trouble - nobody laughs anymore
betrayed - addiction
think I care - world asylum
outbreak - you make us sick
terror - lowest of the low
shark attack - blood in the water
and I recently fell in love with that sinners and saints album they put out. looking though their discography i am reminded how much rad shit they put out like sworn in, striking distance, AN and they even did that one hope con ep aswell. I miss old bridge 9

Re: Bridge Nine Redemption?
b9 has been lacking solid releases lately. Hopefully it turns around. That said, I legitamitly love PBC. I just don't think they should be on that lable

Re: Bridge Nine Redemption?
I'm gonna go with yes on this, but for different reasons.
I have no problem with a label diversifying, but they've been signing or releasing seriously shitty stuff lately. I love PBC, but NFG started sucking years ago, and have only gotten worse. I've not heard a single good thing about the new Ruiner. The last Have Heart just didn't have the same impact as The Things We Carry. Ambitions? Holy shit that band sucked. Etc. etc. etc.
It's not that they've been putting out non-hardcore and so started sucking...they just started sucking. I really really really love Mother of Mercy though, so that's a good sign. I'm not gonna hold my breath that it's the wave of the future, though.

Palehorse's Amongst the Flock is one of my favorite releases off that label, especially of that style.

I got it for free and I still feel like I got ripped off. Ooof. What a stinker.
I remember not liking Palehorse, but honestly I haven't listened to them in a while. I should sit down and give that band a second chance.LAxPB wrote:Palehorse's Amongst the Flock is one of my favorite releases off that label, especially of that style.

And I worship Clevo Hardcore the way most people worship the end times. See, I'm just not sure where this "I don't like Palehorse" bullshit came from.

Palehorse is a sweet name and a pretty good band I wish they did more.
