Music from season to season
Do you notice your musical tastes change from season to season?
I find in the summer I listen to a huge amount of reggae, ska and dub (though this summer I wrote a paper on the punk, as witnessed by my RYM account). In the fall I find it is my time for musical exploration. I look up or find artists I've heard about or might enjoy and go for it. For example, I've never listened to The Cure outside of a few songs here and there. I hopped on the ol' P2P and downloaded 4 albums. I generally listen to a lot more 'soft' music (bit of folk, Smiths) and show more appreciation for much of the prog-rock I was into 5 or 6 years ago.
You notice any changes?

I probably change from season to season, but I think that I'm always slightly changing... I also try and force myself to listen to new music at all points since there is just way too much I haven't even dabbled.

Re: Music from season to season
i listen to more pop punk in summer months than any other.
Other than that i am pretty diverse and with a radio show i get to hear a bunch of new stuff all the time.

It has taken me the more depressing rainy, foggy days to revisit black fucking metal the likes of Emperor and Weakling...fvkk ovv. You guys should see the surrounding area of my house on most mornings now, it's literally a cold, unforgiving beauteous landscape. Packed with mire and distance.

Death in June and MLIW, specifically Witness, lots of Cascadian BM, and Suicide File.

dark, shitty, cloudy days are usually my excuse to blast Eyehategod or Burning Witch at uncomfortable volumes. beautiful sunny ones make me want to listen to Scholastic Deth, Judge or anything that will make me start a circle pit in the middle of the sidewalk.

Re: Music from season to season
i tend to listen to more indie stuff during the fall and more acoustic stuff during winter.
summer is usually a lot more tops 40s stuff mixed with a lot of pop-punk.
hardcore is just an all-year round thing haha.
there are also certain bands/songs that i can't jam to unless it's a certain season/or weather wise.

I changed my mind today. Upon working in the rain and listening to The Cure - Disintegration on tape while driving from job to job, I realised it's perfect fall music.
also Neil Young on rainy days. Actually, Neil Young on all days.
