Re: PEDALS
yo, I have an hm-2. all the knobs are intact and stuff. from July 1984 based on:
http://www.bossarea.com/serial/sndecoder.aspx
if you want one really bad I could sell you mine. I figure $80 would be pretty fair.
what other kinds of pedals are you after? I think I want to keep most of my others, being a danelectro echo, boss loop station, ehx micro pog, ibanez tube screamer, boss tuner, buss noise suppressor, radial aby, boss metal zone (sadly, I would only ever use this for noise, shit's over the top and I can't imagine seriously using it for guitar), proco rat (these RULE)...hmmm....
I've also been half considering selling the sunn head. I know you had your eye on that thing. but ugh, that'd be tough to part with. I'd have to take it to mount tolmie and see the sunset with it one last time and cuddle with it and stuff. and even then we might get back together.

I don't know man, I think I'm still in the considering-it phase. I'd have to get my other two heads back to working condition. Probably $1000-1100ish. it's not really an "I need to sell it!" kind of thing but I'm not doing great money-wise and it's my most valuable piece of gear.
the pedal's yours! I still have your records too.
Andrew: looks like they're all out of stock. the only danelectro I'm after is the spring king though.

Do they still make it? I saw one used at a guitar shop in Edmonton on the weekend.tylerp wrote:Andrew: looks like they're all out of stock. the only danelectro I'm after is the spring king though.
Re: PEDALS
how much were they asking? I'm not sure if they still make it but two of my heads don't have spring reverb and I don't like the way most of the popular pedals (holy grail, spring chicken, etc) try to mimic it.Andrew wrote:Do they still make it? as for tuning, I just use a typical boss chromatic tuner. it does the job. any tuner will work though. I just like the boss one because it also splits the signal (like a Y function of an ABY) and is a pretty typical workhorse tuner. I also have a cort LCD tuner that I used to tune my saxophone with. shit's flimsy.
if you have a rack head, get one of those rack mount tuners. it'll make you look cool. like Andrew and his two Sansamps. I've always gone with rack alternatives and I can't quite explain why... there's just something that's more "fun" about pedals... like new toys. and if I started building up a rack, I'd be all... "okay, studio compressor.... eq.... hey, maybe I should just get some autotune hardware and sing like t-pain. rackmount drum machine. what instrument do I play again? fuck it. is the world ready for tyler-pain? shawtyyyy"

I don't remember for sure but I think around $240. BTW, Edmonton is killer for guitar gear shopping, they have a ton of good music stores. Save your pennies for when we go to play there.tylerp wrote:how much were they asking? Hieg uses a Van Amps Tweed Reverbamate reveb pedal and it sounds fantastic. We compared it to every reverb pedal they had at L+M (including a $700 tube Fender reverb box) and it was easily the best sounding. They're expensive at about $330, but you can do the L+M financing thing if you're down with that.

Hey, those are two different kinds of sansamps, made to be run together, so it's slightly less nerdy than it seems.
If I could get the same tone out of less stuff I'd be all for it, moving that rack is a drag. The thing weighs a ton.
Re: PEDALS
tell me more about this van amps pedal. does it do a natural feeling spring reverb? or a convincing plate reverb? those are the only sorts of reverb I'm interested in, I was never too fond of "room emulation" type reverb, especially when applied to individual instruments in a live setting or whatever. that kind of stuff needs to stay in the studio and get applied to vocals, drums, or the final stereo mix.

Re: PEDALS
It's a natural feeling spring reverb. Check out the Van Amps website for soundclips and vids and such. I don't recall if Hieg has the Soul Mate or o.g. version of the pedal.tylerp wrote:tell me more about this van amps pedal. does it do a natural feeling spring reverb? or a convincing plate reverb? those are the only sorts of reverb I'm interested in, I was never too fond of "room emulation" type reverb, especially when applied to individual instruments in a live setting or whatever. that kind of stuff needs to stay in the studio and get applied to vocals, drums, or the final stereo mix.
Carl tried this pedal with a Rickenbacker 330 into an Ampeg V-4 with a Marshall JCM 800 4x12 cab and it sounded really great.
