Converge is awesome

Just jamming Axe To Fall for the first time in months. This album is awesome and the production is flawless.

What's your favorite Converge album?

Every converge album has its flawless moments. Axe To Fall was one of, if not my favourite album of 2009. You Fail Me took awhile for me to get into but after i was into it to me was good start to finish. Jane Doe is pretty much flawless. basically can keep going back and back on Petitioning the Empty Sky and When Forever Comes Crashing.

I guess i can't say much about first few releases as i don't own them / listen to them that often. band is backed. Wish i had money/passport to see them in May in Seattle.

okay, okay, I'll take this thread seriously. here's my ranking:

jane doe
you fail me
axe to fall
halo, petitioning, when forever comes crashing
no heroes

(I DID like no heroes, just not as much as anything else)
(not counting unloved and weeded out)

It's all about the Poacher Diaries for me. Some of Converge's best stuff, and the Agoraphobic Nosebleed side rips too.

First time I saw Converge was on the Jane Doe tour, that will always be my favorite album.

Axe to Fall=logical conclusion of the Jane Doe sound.

Everything between those two all albums falls somewhere between "good" and "awesome".


Band literally hasn't made an album I don't like on some level.

Have to step down and disagree here. Axe to Fall is a stand alone release IMO compared to the last two. No Heroes was more of a logical conclusion to Jane Doe.

I dunno...I mean, I'll admit that No Heroes is my least favorite Converge album, and I haven't listened to it as much as I have the others, but I really hear Jane Doe in Axe to Fall. Buuuut that's just me.

i should be one of the most active posters on this thread but like usual, i dont get into album or band conversations with anybody very often.

i will say this though, every converge album has meant something different to me, so having to pick out a fave is not possible.

Jane Doe changed everything, so even though it's not my favourite, it still ranks number one. Then it goes Axe To Fall, Petitioning the Empty Sky, You Fail Me, No Heroes, When Forever Comes Crashing and everything else.

This. I've seen them multiple times, and it's always been a rager of a show. They've been going for over twenty years, and still put on some of the best live performances I've ever seen. The huge acclaim they're getting now is completely deserved and well earned. Stoked to see where they are ten years from now.
