withdrawal update: shai hulud tour, new shirts, etc etc

Post by withdrawal204 »

after a few months of silent activity / our drummer dan breaking his shitty ankle / me having no job, here are a few updates for anyone interested in the recent and upcoming news in the withdrawal camp. unfortunately, we aren't coming out there anytime soon (see you in may i think?) but here is some news regardless!

exclusive t-shirts available now at HELLFISH:

Image

we have two brand new exclusive t-shirts available online 24/7 from our co-consipiritors at the HELLFISH FAMILY. swear yourselves to the rites of shadow, or suffer in hell. your pick.

http://www.hellfishfamily.com/Band/Withdrawal

don't forget to check out the rest of their online catalogue for other exclusive shirts from INTEGRITY, UNBROKEN, DISEMBODIED and many more...

it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be white, and it's gonna be a winter tour that lasts you the rest of your week:

we can't say no to touring. we can't say no to SHAI HULUD. so when the opportunity to tour with one of our favorite bands comes up we can't say no. this november / december we will hit the road in western canada for a week long tour with SHAI HULUD, LIONHEART, COUNTERPARTS and HUNDREDTH.

11/30 Winnipeg, AB @ The Royal Albert Arms
12/1 TBA
12/2 Edmonton, AB @ Avenue Theater
12/3 Calgary, AB @ Albert Park
12/4 Lethbridge, AB @ Royal Canadian Legion
12/5 TBA

new bass player:

we have filled our empty bass spot, picking up the vacant slot will be a mysterious individual known as mr. eton. he is arriving in our home base of winnipeg next week, where he will begin contributing to the writing process of an upcoming 7" and LP.

new psalms and hymns:

we are entering the studio soon to record 4 new songs for an upcoming 7". we'll have more details on it soon. we'll be playing 2 new songs on the upcoming tour. the new songs are taking shape and are a natural progression from the material on "unknown misery"...

increasing our online presence:

in between bouts of late night ex-girlfriend stalking and trying to figure out polite ways to decline friend requests from the weird guy at work who doesn't wash his hands after using the bathroom, you can now add withdrawal to facebook.

impress your friends by adding us today...

http://www.facebook.com/withdrawal13

myspace is essentially a nuclear wasteland of horrible scene bands and pornographic robot profiles, so aside from it's streaming capabilities we'll be largely ignoring the majority of that site. if you need to get ahold of us for booking, you can find us.

not too strange - i dont think any of those bands have a west coast draw at all.

no promoters took it on in Vancouver [Bailey is booking the tour] and he inquired with my friend Cam to bring it to the island, but i agreed with him when he said he doubted it would go very well out here

It wouldn't have the draw their guarantee would need. Agreed. But, I still would personally LOVE to see Shai Hulud and Withdrawal.

also, withdrawal wasnt on the tour when Cam was approached, but yeah, theres no way the guarantee would be met

lionheart may have had a decent draw here, i dunno - its Edge metalcore really.

Counterparts are a dead ringer for Misery Signals - the sound is huge in the east, not so much out here

Would go to that show and rage, totally understand why it's not out here. Cam made the right choice.

Adam, stoked to hear about the new 7"/LP. I will definitely buy that. Get your asses out here soon. I want my band to play with you.

yeah we kinda fell ass backwards into it. all hope was lost, then i think one of the bands had to drop from the tour and we were approached to jump on. it was up in the air until a day or two ago when our bass player found out we were on the bill in calgary, which was news to us ha ha. we're excited.

we played with lionheart out here. they kinda do that 2005 first blood style heavy hardcore thing. not my cup of tea but they definitely tour alot and work hard.

we love playing in victoria, and as long as you guys continue to have us we'll keep floating on over.

evidently, outside of shai hulud and to an extent lionheart, we're not really on the same wavelength musically or artistically as the other bands on the tour. that's not a dig on the other bands, but i think we're the only band on the tour without clothing sponsors ha.

the whole package deal tour thing is something very foreign to us, so it's a small sacrifice of personal integrity that we've decided to make just to see what it's like. i think with the way the guarantee is for this tour we'll be making far less money at the door than we would touring on our own. in our hearts i'm sure we'd rather be playing a floorshow at a community center or the living room of the legendary castle for that matter, but when you're given the opportunity to tour with a band who have effected you on a personal level like shai hulud, well you just don't say no.

we don't have ego boxes, we don't record to a click track, we don't have a fancy myspace layout and we don't care about ernie ball battle of the band warped tour contests. we're a hardcore band, always will be, and who primarily depend on word of mouth and dumb luck for us to carve any sort of mark on the face of the world.

I hope you know that wasn't meant as a personal dig at you guys. Again, if that tour came near here I'd totally go. I just don't think that the west coast would support you guys the way you deserve.

ha ha while i was typing that i was thinking "i hope he knows that i know that wasn't a personal dig at us, and that the reason i type such long posts is cuz i have no job and no life and talk too much".

honestly, for 5 touring bands, shai hulud in particular, the amount they were asking isn't that bad. $1200 last i heard. 10 bucks a head, maybe 15 if you're bold and you should have the venue covered with a little over 90 kids. maybe i'm just a giant fan boy, but if kids don't come out in droves for a band like shai hulud then i will eat my hat. obviously shai hulud is gonna get the lions share of the money, and before anyone says anything about them being money grubbing metalblade all-stars, they have to fly in a new drummer every tour and pay them a wage to do the tour. between that and van payments, they barely make enough to cover merch. we'll probably get 100 bucks tops and will no doubt resort to selling our hideous, useless livers on the black market to make it back home.

Hahahhaha okay sweet. I too love Shai Halud, and I know about twenty kids in particular own who would go nuts for that. I just think everyone else would b way less stoked.

EITHER WAY come back soon. Also, sweet Simpsons reference.
