Yes! And I kinda/sorta already do-ish. Carl and I did a band that sounded like KIG/Deadguy for a bit. We wrote a few songs and were going to get fill out the line up with Grant and Steve (formerly of Maus, Steve now plays in Tempest), but we lost our drummer and the band lost all it's steam. It may/may not revive again someday.

no we havent. I just had a hunch they are the type of band you could get down with. Igot a copy of she loves me, she loves me not from aram this past weekend, cant wait to give it a spin. just gotta pick the right moment to play it so it doesnt inspire me to kill a cop or just go flat out insane

There are enough bands in this town. If anything, more need to break up.

No way! More bands gives bills more variety! Reece is right, start more bands, and try to not start bands with all the same people if you can help it. Bring the odd new guy or gal into each band mix.

While I totally agree with this, overall there are TOO many bands in the overall sense of things. Too much bullshit being passed off as "interesting" or "creative". There is so much over-produced, uncoercive garbage clogging music up right now. A lot of people should re-think picking up guitars. Either that or they should sky-rocket the price of instruments, so that the only people who make music are super rich and put on amazing arena shows (SEE THE 70's/80's) or drunk/drugged-out fuckups who steal gear to play in really raucous sounding garage-y bands.

There is so much over-produced, uncoercive garbage clogging music up right now. A lot of people should re-think picking up guitars. Either that or they should sky-rocket the price of instruments, so that the only people who make music are super rich and put on amazing arena shows (SEE THE 70's/80's) or drunk/drugged-out fuckups who steal gear to play in really raucous sounding garage-y bands.

There are too many bands now in the broad sense, but local punk/hc scenes seem to struggle with having variety to their bills because there are too few bands. I think it'd be good for Vic to have more bands.

gibas and I have this awesome idea and our life troubles have been in finding a drummer who is actually interested in the music we like and doesn't suck and isn't already in 2+ bands

I think the biggest problem is too many bands with the same few people... its a problem in a lot of the scenes here in vic, not just hardcore.

And not just in Vic, a lot of scenes have this happen, Van included. It'd be cool if people tried to start bands with new people occasionally.

Someday I would like to start a casual band with a couple peeps from Van and Vic together. I think it'd be fun to have an excuse to visit Vic more often. Not that that helps any local scene much.
