I think my favourite sound and fury moment was when the guy from death before dishonor dropped the word "faggots" then ten minutes later paint it blacks set started by Dan Yemin calling out homophobes and dedicating their set to a list of at least 5 names of people who have been fighting for gay marriage in california. And Puff, I think that there are times when you should ignore people. A good mark of maturity is the ability to pick your battles. Something like this, though, is worth pointing out and talking out against, IMO. It's somewhat indicative of a recent backlash against the feminist movement, and it's kind of frightening. That, and to quote Jordan, this is one of maybe five major straightedge bands going right now (he told me the other four, but I honestly don't remember them). The thought of some kid getting into hardcore, then getting into straightedge, and then finding these guys bothers me more than a little.

By no means am I saying people MUST talk about them, and if everyone else wants me to drop the subject then I'm cool with that. But I'm letting my opinion be known: those lyrics are fucked, and the mindset and politics they embrace are fucked. Also, they are REALLY REALLY terribly written. Like...damn. But that means jack shit in the grand scheme of things.

Dude they're a band named AGITATOR. Obviously they're trying to AGITATE through writing "offensive" lyrics. I bet dollars to donuts that if any of the dudes in this band were confronted with any of the situations they speak about in their songs, in REAL life, they would probably do or say the exact opposite. If they are guilty of anything it's using really pathetic shock tactics to gain interest in their baby-mosh hardcore band. I've seen bands like this across all heavy/extreme music genres and it's a fucking facade they put on, in order to further their shitty "careers" as "musicians". I just have to sit back and laugh at them for being another "look at what I wrote guys!!" band. I can't wait for someone to actually call them out face to face (or over the interweb) and watch them try to back pedal from any of it, when they realize that a fair amount of people are actually quite angry at what the lyrics they wrote.
