I think this is the only statement I have ever heard from Andrew that I don't really agree with. Mostly cause I find it slightly off putting. A lot of us in town have tried to bring as many bands here over the years and sure the Ferries are a great obstacle for some bands. (mostly NW/Vancouver) Not every tour is going to be able to get a show in this city. It is just not big enough or have enough people willing to promote within this genre. I am sure for Vancouver promoters there are tours they turn down and bands just skip it on one tour. Doesn't mean next time they won't try. For 3 years in a row this one band has tried to get a show here and regrettably EVERY year they ask me it is after i have already committed to another show near the date they want. I guess also over the past 2 years I have been doing less venue shows and more house with the personal ones I book and am a lot more selective about that. I am just rambling now and basically just saying that by some bands not getting dates isn't going to be any more of an obstacle as the people involved with asking any of us will know how much we want them to play here but how it falls through. I actually want to bug JBCC to let us do shows again. It is almost time to try that route again and get shows away from my house. ramble ramble. Hope you are well Andrew!

Hey Troy,
No part of what I said was a criticism of your scene. My point was it's often been said that the Vic hc/punk scene has a tougher time getting bands to come to your city than other cities because of location/access. If you also have a problem getting bands to come to Vic because you're lacking venues then that means less shows for Vic yet again = bummer for you guys. I'm not suggesting bands will like on Vic.
don't worry Troy, I have explained to both Andrew AND Andrew about the obstacles we have come across with this particular show. sometimes, it just can't happen. we tried like crazy. I've never put so much effort into a show that didn't happen at all.
hope this does happen at Willa's though. I'd go. I WILL go.
Just in case no one has heard. There is a group of us working to open an affordable all ages venue in town. We are accepting donations in almost any form, including, money, time, equipment and or knowledge. Get in touch with me if you have any of those things to contribute. Even if you just want to put the donate link on your facebook/google+/social media pages. Since the fest is coming up, the venue situation has been put on the back burner(for good reason) but it's always nice to remind people this shit is happening.

it's going good, we have nearly a full p.a, we need some cables and mics and stands and stuff but we have a main board, some outboard, subs and mains, could use a couple monitors. we have some money in the coffers for the venue alone. made a couple bucks from donations. once the fest is over, we'll be doing some fundraisers. all in all it's doing good.
as far as the comp, i'm just about ready to go with it, i do need to find a place to press it now though, they guy i was going to use, bailed, anyone know a local cd presser?
not to hijack this thread, but have you guys looked into any potential spaces in which the venue might possibly end up existing in? are you thinking like a warehouse space in the rock bay area kind of thing? also what can people do as far as donating our time to help you guys out?
